Are you ready to renew your mind and find real strength and healing after your abortion?
God’s Word tells us that we are to “renew our minds” daily—but let’s be honest… have you ever actually tried doing that on purpose? In today’s post, I want to give you five powerful scriptures to begin incorporating into your daily quiet time so that you can walk in healing, strength, and peace as you move forward from your past abortion. If you can, grab a journal and write these verses down. Even better—memorize them. Let them anchor you in the truth of who God is and what He says about you.

When I Struggled with Anger…
Let me take you back to my early 20s. I was going to therapy for anger issues—specifically road rage. I’m talking full-blown yelling, revving the engine, slamming the steering wheel. If someone cut me off or didn’t use their blinker, I would lose it.
I had no idea how to fix it. I would ask myself, “How do I just stop being angry when the rage hits so fast?”
My therapist gave me two tools that changed everything: journaling (which you’ve probably heard me talk about), and renewing my mind.
She challenged me to pause and think differently about the person who upset me. What if they were rushing to the hospital? What if they just got a call that their dad has cancer? What if they were working two jobs and barely sleeping?
That shift—that empathy—started changing my heart. Over time, I became calmer. Now, I rarely get angry behind the wheel. Even when someone does something reckless, it just kind of rolls off me. I might get annoyed, but it doesn’t control me. I don’t yell, I don’t make rude gestures, and I definitely don’t carry it with me the rest of the day.
That’s the power of renewing your mind.

You Can Renew Your Mind for Healing, Too
The same way I trained myself to think differently about other people on the road, you can train your mind to think differently about your past abortion. And even better, you don’t have to do it alone. You have the living, active Word of God to help you.
When you feel far from God…
When your heart is heavy…
When guilt, shame, or weakness creeps in…
His Word speaks healing. His Word brings peace. His Word strengthens you.
5 Scriptures to Meditate On Daily
I want to give you five powerful verses to meditate on, memorize, and speak over yourself every single day. These are not just words on a page—these are promises for your soul.
1. 1 Peter 2:24
“’He Himself bore our sins’ in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by His wounds you have been healed.’”
You are not disqualified. You are healed. What Jesus did on the cross covers everything—including this.
2. Jeremiah 17:14
“Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.”
This is a simple, honest prayer to speak when you don’t know what else to say. Cry out to Him—He listens.
3. Isaiah 53:5
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
Jesus already carried the weight of your pain. He didn’t just die for your sin—He died to give you peace.
4. Psalm 147:3
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
If your heart feels shattered, you are exactly the kind of person God is tender toward. He binds. He heals. He stays close.
5. Isaiah 40:29
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
You don’t have to have it all together. Your weakness is not a failure—it’s a place where God can show up and strengthen you.
